UPA intent on constitution change Bill was suspect

United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi has said the Bharatiya Janata Party's opposition to the constitution amendment Bill seeking constitutional status for the Lokpal - which led to its defeat in Parliament - had exposed the party's real face. However, we wonder if the Union government was serious about passing the Bill which required the support of two-thirds of the members present for it to go through.
