Nation’s poor health

For a country such as India that spends only slightly more than one per cent of its GDP on public health services, the revelation of a recent survey that as many as 42 per cent of its children are underweight should not surprise anybody, shocking though the figure is. The survey was conducted by a group of non-Government organisations and it covered 73,000 households across nine States.
