Great literatures don`t happen without great criticism

Poet, critic, translator and anthologist, Arvind Krishna Mehrotra teaches English at the University of Allahabad. He has recently translated Kabir and brought out a volume of essays titled Partial Recall. Speaking with Humra Quraishi , Mehrotra discussed explorations into literary history, the failure of Indian academia - and why Kabir may not have been very pleasant company.
