Bookshop's spirit will survive
At the end of March, Manneys, a bookshop that has been a haven for three generations of bibliophiles in Pune, will shut down for good. The news, announced in January, generated a flood of stories in the local press quoting readers of all ages expressing their dismay and anguish. The older ones recalled their visits to the bookshop ever since it opened in a colonial bungalow in the Camp area of the city in 1948.
