Pakistan today and tomorrow
The heat in the core of US-Pakistan relations is well above red alert and may lead one day in the not so distant future to a meltdown. That Pakistan is in a fury following a Nato bombing of an AfPak border base in which 24 Pakistani soldiers died is obvious. Less visible perhaps but equally furious is the mood in this town. From newspaper editorials and mass media talk to think tank seminars, the anger of US opinion makers with what they see as a continuing duplicity of the Pakistani military is almost palpable. The details of the incident on the border are under investigation but Islamabad's case for righteous indignation is weakening by the day. Enough, say more and more persons in the know of things, is enough.
