Swiss tax treaty is a scandal, farce, say critics

The double taxation avoidance agreement (DTAA) between India and Switzerland, which is being showcased by the UPA government as an example of its willingness to tackle the problem of black money, will neither unmask tax evaders nor shed any light on the amount of black money stashed in Swiss banks. The agreement, which comes into effect from 7 October, does not let the Swiss share with India any information prior to January 2011.
