Debate's lessons go beyond retail

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail is hopefully a done deal. I sincerely hope that saner counsels will prevail on Friday and the government will be steadfast. More importantly, the opposition will not encourage traders to take to the streets and spoil the image of our country as an investment destination. Talk of reversing the law in the coming years is irresponsible. This long drawn saga has raised several questions that go far beyond the mere issue of FDI in retail.
