Congress determined to gag media, judiciary
The Congress and the UPA Government which it leads clearly believe that the best way to counter criticism is to suppress it. Because the Congress has has an excellent track record in misusing and twisting Constitutional provisions to meet such nefarious design, its Government's persistence with Section 66A of the Information Technology Act that effectively gags commentators on the social media, and the decision to introduce a provision in the Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, 2010, that will silence judges from commenting adversely on the Government's performance, do not come as much of a surprise.
