Don't muzzle net dissent

The outrage over the wrongful arrest of two girls in Maharashtra for a Facebook post irreverent to Bal Thackeray has been focused on the attack on free speech. Since it was the latest in a series of arrests in recent months for alleged violation of Section 66A of the Information Technology Act, there has been a threadbare analysis of this illiberal provision dealing with "offensive messages".
