A strange kind of trial

There is a builder-politician nexus and real estate development is characterised by non-transparency, discretion and lack of regulation. To the extent regulation exists, it isn't enforced. We need to improve law, regulations and enforcement. Such systemic improvements take time. Till that happens, there will be a complete ban on all new buildings in India. If you read such an item in newspapers, you will wonder in disbelief. Yet, we have done just that for GM crops. The background is a PIL before Supreme Court.
