Even by the standards of the Petroleum Ministry — not always known for long tenures — S. Jaipal Reddy’s stint in that Ministry must be reckoned as a very brief one with the Minister now being moved to Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Ministry, in the latest reshuffle of portfolios of Union ministers. Administrative exigency is the oft-cited reason for such changes.
