Time for military diplomacy

Military power of a state is inextricably linked with its diplomacy — it begets a diplomatic bonus if the state plays its cards well. The reality, as our national security adviser put it in the 2011 Cariappa Memorial lecture, is “that war and diplomacy, military force and international relations, are Siamese twins, joined together at birth for life”.
