Sweet sense

The Rangarajan panel wants the sugar sector to be freed of controls. The proposed reforms are welcome, though long overdue. Freedom from pricing and ending administrative controls in sugar and sugarcane will encourage competition, create economies of scale, make the market more efficient and put the industry in a better shape.
