The Union ministers have hailed the advisory opinion of the Supreme Court in the Presidential reference under Article 143(1) of the Constitution as a vindication of what the government has done. An impression is being sought to be created that the government is now an absolute monarch entitled to distribute largesse and natural resources since the rule of 'auction in all cases' can now be deviated from.
