Corruption is not cultural

The American poet Muriel Rukeyser said that the “Universe is made of stories, not atoms”. She made an important point; the power of stories is higher than formal legislation because culture is a cumulative consequence of the narratives, myths and stories that a country tells itself. One of the most toxic stories being told today is that there is something about Indian culture that makes corruption inevitable.
