Beyond the long arm of law

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has reason to be pleased with its victory over two Sahara group companies in the Supreme Court. The issue was whether the Sahara firms’ Rs 20,000 crore-plus fund-raising, supposedly from 2 crore ‘investors’, could be called a ‘private’ placement. The Court adjudged that it couldn’t.
