UPA stalls defence initiative to please China

The reported decision of the Congress-led UPA Government to shelve plans to raise a mountain strike corps that would be deployed along the India-China border smacks of capitulation. While this much is clear, what remains a mystery is: What is the capitulation to? The word that has been spread around by the Government is that there really is no need for such a corps because China has not added to its military strength along the Line of Actual Control.
