P Chidambaram still has a lot to answer for

Mr P Chidambaram may have some reason to celebrate after the Supreme Court on August 24 cleared him of any criminal conspiracy in the 2G Spectrum scam. In response to an appeal filed by Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy to include Mr Chidambaram as a co-accused, the court has found no prima facie evidence of his involvement in the Rs 1.76 lakh crore scandal. But that is only a legal relief. To that extent, the Minister can now go to town claiming innocence in the deal. But the fact remains that criminal trials are proceeding against various people in connection with that scam.
