Interest in boosting sentiment

RBI Governor Duvvuri Subbarao’s first meeting with the new finance minister P Chidambaram seemed quite interesting. Even as Subbarao was walking into the finance minister’s office, Chidambaram greeted him with a pointed, “Give me some good news.” It is not surprising that Chidambaram was so eager, and possibly impatient, for some good news at a time when investment pessimism seems to be the most dominant sentiment in the economy.
