The yogi and the commissar

In his essay The Yogi and the Commissar, Arthur Koestler, disillusioned with communism and battling fascism, speaks of the 'yogi' who seeks change from within to transform the world. For him, means alone count. On the other extreme is the commissar, for whom change comes from without, and ends justify the means.
