True to form, the Congress-led UPA Government is refusing to acknowledge the hard fact that illegal immigration from across Bangladesh is the root cause of the violence that exploded in the last week of July in Assam and continues to simmer even today. In the course of a debate on Thursday in the Rajya Sabha and earlier on Wednesday during an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha on the burning issue, newly appointed Union Minister for Home Affairs Sushil Kumar Shinde failed miserably to respond to specific points raised by some parties including the BJP, which squarely blamed the Government for its ineptness in handling the crisis.
