Step on the gas

The steps charted out by finance minister P Chidambaram for the recovery of the economy, within a week of his taking over the ministry, are reassuring. But he has to do more than just making the right noises to restore confidence in the economy. And he needs help and backing from the Congress leadership, to deliver on promises made.
