Is Kerala returning to the bad old days?
The violence unleashed by the CPI(M) in Kerala, especially in its stronghold Kannur, during protests against the arrest of its Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan in a murder case, is raising doubts about the Marxists' ability to practise politics with tolerance. Mr Jayarajan was arrested in Kannur on Wednesday as the 38th accused in the case pertaining to the murder of Muslim League activist Abdul Shukoor (21). Violence started at that very moment.
