Aviation: Charting the right course

The civil aviation ministry found itself in the news recently when the minister heading it up - Ajit Singh - showed firm resolve in ending the Air India pilots' strike and de-recognising the Indian Pilots Guild (IPG). The pilots finally took refuge under court order to scramble to work without notable gain, but not before adding another Rs 700 crore to the beleaguered carrier's cumulative losses and financial mismanagement of Rs 1 lakh crore.
