McKinsey has come up with a calculation that enables India to beat the whole world hands down, namely estimates of employable hands. In the decade up to 2010, India added more workers to its labour force than China; both added somewhat less than a fifth of the increase in the world labour force. In the next 20 years, India will add more than twice as many workers as China — over a quarter of the increase in the world’s labour force.
