Limits of reservation

The Congress-led UPA ruling coalition’s plan of stirring up the hornet’s nest via a 4.5 per cent sub-quota for minorities in Central educational institutions and Government jobs has just been stalled by the Supreme Court. A two-judge bench of Justices KS Radhakrish- nan and JS Khehar has not only declined to grant an interim stay on the May 28 Andhra Pradesh High Court order, quashing the proposed quota, but demanded documents to validate such reservation.
