Chidambaram must quit and face court
Despite fresh demands raised by the Opposition, it is unlikely that Union Minister for Home Affairs P Chidambaram is going to resign in a hurry after the Madras High Court has dismissed his plea to quash a petition challenging his election to the Lok Sabha in 2009. It is even more unlikely that either Prime Minister Manmohan Singh or Congress president Sonia Gandhi will advice him to put in his papers. None of these persons wants to be seen to be succumbing to pressure from their political opponents. This is why they have all come together to defend the situation.
