Things have finally got a bit better for a handful of very large projects: a group of ministers (GoM) has approved the allocation of two large coal blocks to Essar, Hindalco and Reliance Power. Essar and Reliance want these blocks to generate electricity, Hindalco needs coal to make aluminium and power. The same GoM has told these companies that they have to make sure that enough trees are replanted and locals compensated handsomely.
