Economic edge to diplomacy

The just concluded three-day visit of the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, to Myanmar and the one to Africa a year earlier, marks a subtle shift away from a focus on the West to imbuing greater economic content to our diplomacy. Dr Singh spent six days in Africa last May, which included attending an Africa-India Forum Summit at the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa.
