Poverty of ideas

After months of being harangued for the absurd figures that the Planning Commission had unleashed on the country to define poverty, a battered Union Government has finally decided to do something to fight off the scathing criticism. In any other situation, this would have been a good thing. But, given that this is the Congress-led UPA regime, it is not surprising that the Government has managed to make a mess out of this corrective effort as well.
