The Congress president's assurance that there is plenty of time yet has not allayed speculation over the presidential elections. All eyes remain trained on the Congress with two names - those of the Vice-President and the finance minister - circulating feverishly. The first question that comes to mind is this: why is there so much anxiety about the nomination of the President, when the office is largely ceremonial and symbolic?
