Needed, a fair inquiry

It is reasonable to expect Mr KG Balakrishnan to resign on grounds of propriety as chairman of the National Human Rights Commission after the Supreme Court on May 10 directed the Union Government to probe allegations of disproportionate assets that his relatives are said to have acquired during his tenure as a judge of the Supreme Court and later as Chief Justice of India.
