Consensus in Kathmandu

The agreement among Nepal’s four main political groups on Thursday to form a national unity Government that will include members of the Opposition parties could not have a day sooner. Ever since the Maoist-led insurgency ended in 2006, followed by the abolishment of the monarchy two years later, the new republic of Nepal led by a fractured body politic has struggled to establish democracy.
