The water agenda
A prolonged dry spell in peninsular India has led to a dip in water levels in major rivers such as Krishna and Cauvery. Things could worsen if the South-West monsoon fails in these parts — a possibility not to be ruled out, despite the Met Department forecasting a “normal' monsoon for the entire country over the four-month season from June. That raises possibilities of renewed disputes over water-sharing among States.
