Our national discourse on corruption has hit its blind spot. The more we raise the bar for a Lokpal, or for the Chief Justice of India or for the Election Commission or for the Central Bureau of Investigation, unwittingly but in the same breath, we have been dropping the bar for the Prime Minister until it can drop no further. With all good intentions, we are pedalling furiously but sinking ever deeper into quicksand. Allow me to explain. True, the CJI, the CAG, the EC, the Lokpal if we had one, are important and independent pillars of our Constitution.
