Defence land returns to where it belongs

By finally surrendering the defence land  where she had planned to build her post-retirement home, President Pratibha Patil has done well to bring the curtains down on an unsavoury episode. Had it been done earlier, the controversy could have been avoided. Of course, she should not have, in the first place, even chosen the plot for her house, because it is categorised as A1 defence land on which no civilian structure can come up.
