Even by the standards of thin-skinned politicians in India, the harsh response of West Bengal's Trinamool Congress (TMC) government to the forwarding of an email joke plumbs new depths. For this 'crime' the government ordered the arrest of a senior professor at Kolkata's elite Jadavpur University, as well as the 75-year-old secretary of a housing society who's also a cardiac patient, amid reports of their being roughed up by TMC workers.
