A shocking violation

The UPA Government’s move to allot a huge plot of prime defence land in Khadki near Pune for the resettlement of President Pratibha Patil after she completes her term in office is outrageous and unacceptable. While former Presidents are entitled to suitable accommodation for life, there are unambiguous guidelines on the sort of housing that they can avail of. By no stretch of imagination can it be said that the defence land on which Ms Patil’s post-retirement home is coming up meets those specifications. In fact, the Khadki house blatantly flouts existing norms.
