There is a story, probably apocryphal, about US president Richard Nixon asking China's premier Zhou Enlai what he thought of the French Revolution of 1789. After a pause, Zhou is supposed to have replied, "It is too early to say." For members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), it is too early to say whether imperialism is tottering on its last legs and revolution imminent in the country.
