Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to India may have had all the trappings of an official state trip, including the usual media hype and a jumbo delegation, yet it was little more than a private pilgrimage sweetened with some cutesy diplomacy. Before Mr Zardari offered prayers at the Dargah Sharif in Ajmer, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh engaged him in a 40-minute one-on-one conversation at 7, Race Course Road, during which the two leaders had a general discussion on cross-border terrorism, the Kashmir conflict and bilateral trade.
