Uncertainty over Posco

The continuing suspense over the fate of Korean giant Posco’s integrated steel plant, which is to be set up in Odisha, must be brought to an end. The ‘on again, off again’ status is doing no good to the investment climate in the country nor is it in any way contributing to clarity in the Government’s decision-making process. It is for the Union Government to decide whether it wants to go ahead with the project or scrap it, and that decision cannot be allowed to be held hostage to shifting goal posts on the matter by various agencies that often appear to be working at cross-purposes.
