These are busy times for the Maoist rebellion. We have last fortnight’s abduction of Italian tourists in Orissa by local Maoists to score a political point. And subsequently, an MLA in that state—this apparently in reprisal for the government not delivering its part in an arrangement that had a Maoist front organization win for the state’s ruling party some district-level elections.
