Old guard rules in China

If India’s attention has been fixed on State Assembly elections in recent days, the Chinese are also preparing the ground for major leadership changes later this year when President Hu Jintao, Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and a total of seven of the nine members of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party’s Politburo, will quietly move into retirement.
