The story of two abductions

On Sunday, Maoists in Orissa released one of the two Italian citizens who had been kidnapped in the Kandhamal district of the state from where they had been kidnapped 11 days earlier. The release was not the result of any pressure or coercive operations on part of the Orissa government. It came just a day after Maoists abducted a member of the state legislative assembly (MLA) elsewhere in the state. Both instances reflect the rather poor capabilities of the state government, something it shows little concern about.
