Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi was offered the post of BJP president in 2010 by none other than the RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Rao Bhagwat, according to reliable sources in the BJP. Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source said Bhagwat met Modi twice in Gandhinagar, and was asked to take up the top party slot.
