The Congress has been shown up in this set of assembly elections. In Uttar Pradesh, its pretensions of being a fresh, conquering force were cut down to size. Punjab was an epic failure. It lost Goa and may just about scrape through in Uttarakhand. And yet, Congress president Sonia Gandhi had little to say about the party’s structural weaknesses.
