Allies in New Delhi, rivals in Kolkata

The relations between the Congress and the Trinamool Congress keep hitting a new low with more contentious issues turning up every week, either at the State or the national level. The reason is because the two are unable to have a harmonious relationship despite being coalition partners. The Congress being a national party wants an upper hand while West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, with her giant-killer image, is equally assertive. The ego on both sides is the basic reason for the tiff.
