What PM did not say

As UPA 2 is midway through its five-year tenure, PM Manmohan Singh made a very candid assessment of the economy, reminding his own government of the risks of fiscal profligacy and the imperatives of sustaining high growth rates. The choice of New Year’s Eve as the occasion to send across such a strong message encourages one to think the government may finally get its act together on reining in expenditure and setting its fiscal house in order.
