Congress is politically bankrupt, morally tainted

The Congress can scream itself blue in the face but it will find it virtually impossible to convince even its diehard supporters that the BJP is to blame for the Government’s shameful conduct in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. Millions of people watched the proceedings in the Rajya Sabha live on television and they saw for themselves how speaker after speaker from the Treasury benches indulged in filibustering, how the Congress’s shouting brigade repeatedly heckled Opposition MPs, how the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs kept on raising points of order that were both frivolous and distracting, how MPs affiliated to Mr Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD raised a din and created an unedifying scene. All this was done with the sole purpose of wasting time and dragging out the debate till close to midnight.
