Lifting the game

As they meet for the annual India-Japan summit, Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and Yoshihiko Noda must find ways to accelerate bilateral cooperation amidst the continuing political uncertainty in both nations. If Tokyo has been rocked by frequent changes in leadership, New Delhi is hobbled by a prolonged political stasis. Noda is the sixth interlocutor for Dr Singh in as many years. Despite its domestic turbulence, the Japanese establishment has demonstrated a strong commitment to building a robust partnership with India.
